Three of this tasting’s bottles will be brand new; a Rueda Verdejo, an Alsace Edelzwicker (white blend), and a Bordeaux Merlot. The other two wines that will be poured are the Ziereisen Pinot Noir (from Baden in Germany) and an “old vines” Merlot from Bordeaux that is also aged in oak barrels, which will be an interesting comparison with the other Merlot which is entirely vinified and matured in stainless steel tanks.

Greyscale Wines LLC is a family-run winery founded in 2009 by Jean and Larry Rowe, and they specialize in Bordeaux-style wines. The Cuvée Blanc is a new world take on a Bordeaux Blanc that blends barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc with Semillon which produces a rich, complex wine with many layers of flavor. The Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, which produces a classic California Cabernet that is similar to a left-bank Bordeaux Rouge.
